Theodore "Ted" Lee Hudson, 84 of Maxwell, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Ted was born on May 4, 1940, in rural Story County, Iowa. He graduated from Collins High School in 1959 and was united in marriage to Leota May Gardner, his high school sweetheart from another school on June 21, 1961. Following their marriage, Ted and Leota made their home in Maxwell. He worked the night shift for Armstrong/Titan Tire in Des Moines and would work mornings at Ness Implement in Maxwell.

Ted was a member of the Maxwell Methodist Church, a proud union member and a member of the Iowa Firefighters Association. He served more than 50 years on the Maxwell Fire Department, many of those as chief. Ted had also served as the president of the Story County Fire Association.

Ted is survived by his wife Leota; his children Scott (Sue) Hudson, Tim (Janet) Hudson, Jennifer Viers, James (Tammy) Hudson, Tom (Lisa) Hudson and Matthew (Billie) Hudson; his 16 grandchildren; his 20 great-grandchildren; and his brother Jerry Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Hudson Sr. and Lois Cross; his stepdad Lester Cross; his sister Gay (Biery) Beaver and several half siblings.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maxwell Firefighters Association in memory of Ted.
