Thomas "TK" Kanauss, 30, of Ames, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, August 10 at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Burial will be at a later date at Waterman Cemetery in Southerland, Iowa. TK was born November 24, 1988, in Des Moines the son of Kent Russell Kanauss and Suzanne Cheryl Negus. He graduated from Johnston High School in 2007 and had recently earned his AA from DMACC. TK was looking forward to attending Iowa State in the fall, majoring in Political Science. He enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons, role playing games and listening to music. TK loved animals, especially his cat, Tucker. TK is survived by his dad, Kent (Karen) Kanauss of Center, MO; his mom, Suzanne "Anne" Negus of Nevada; his brothers: Joseph Kanauss of Nevada and Alex Kanauss of Nevada; and his sister, Katie-Rose Kanauss of Polk City. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or to the Ames Animal Shelter.
