Virginia Maxine Rinehart, age 102 of Nevada, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Virginia was born March 10, 1922, in Boone County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Jessie (Richards) Sturtz. She graduated from Boone High School in 1938 and was united in marriage to Warren John August Rinehart on September 10, 1941, in Boone. Virginia spent her career as an executive secretary for Rolfes in Boone.

Virginia had attended Heartland Baptist Church in Ames and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She spent her winters at Bonita Vista in Apache Junction, Arizona where she enjoyed attending dances, playing cards, and visiting with her friends. In her free time, Virginia would often be found doing word searches or jigsaw puzzles.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Mel (Ron) Hill of Nevada; her grandchildren, Jason (Cindy) Boyd, Bryan (Amanda) Boyd, Mark (Jessica) Rinehart, Stacy (Scott) Wolfe and Brad (Katie) Hill; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Sturtz of Pella. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Mark Rinehart; her brothers, Harold, Norman and Maurice Sturtz; and her sister, Arlene Scott.

A private family burial will be at the Ogden Cemetery in Ogden. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Saturday April 27th from 3-6pm at the American Legion, 225 Main Street, Ames, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion or to DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
