Vivian Wilkening, 95, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Rolling Green Care Center in Nevada.

Vivian was born October 6, 1927, in Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Goldmer and Jessie (Roe) Hankins. She attended and graduated from Nevada Schools. Vivian was united in marriage to DeWayne Wilkening on April 30, 1945, in San Francisco. DeWayne preceded Vivian in death in 2012. Vivian had worked for, and retired from, RH Donnelley Marketing in Nevada, Iowa.

Vivian and DeWayne joined the Nevada Methodist Church on Easter Sunday, 1941. Vivian served in many ways in church, including singing in the choir for many years. She was a member of the Lydia Circle. She was an avid Iowa State fan enjoying football, basketball, and baseball. At the age of forty years, Vivian learned to drive and got a driver's license.

Vivian is survived by three sons: Barry (Donna) Wilkening of Rapid City, South Dakota, Bradley (Kay) Wilkening of Ankeny, Iowa, Brian (Ann) Wilkening of Maxwell, Iowa; three daughters: Stacie (Keith) Severson of Lakewood, Colorado, Shelley (Jim) Thomson of South Windsor, Connecticut, Shawn (Shawn) Wilkening of Sarasota, Florida; twenty-three grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, DeWayne; a son: Bret Wilkening; three brothers: Junior, Glen "Bud", Don; and two sisters: Evelyn and Virginia.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.

Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Nevada First United Methodist Church. Interment to follow at Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Nevada First United Methodist Church.
