Wanda Jane Oswalt, 94, of Zearing, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Zearing Health Care Center.

Wanda was born October 20, 1929, near Maxwell, Iowa, the daughter of Frederic and Mabel (Dugger) Anderson. She graduated from the Collins Community High School in 1947, and was united in marriage to Russell Clare Oswalt on August 15, 1948, in Collins, Iowa. Wanda was a farm wife and homemaker. She and Russ lived and farmed for many years north of Collins where they raised their family. When her children were all of school age, Wanda worked at several businesses in the local community. After retiring from farming, they moved to Collins. Russell preceded Wanda in death on February 11, 2012. Wanda was an active member of the Collins Christian Church.

Wanda loved to travel. She and Russ traveled to 49 of the states, with Wanda taking pride in being the navigator. She loved vacationing and fishing at Leech Lake, Minnesota. Wanda was an avid reader and had read every Readers Digest Condensed Book. She had a very special love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cuddled and read to at every opportunity with a plate of Oreos nearby.

Wanda is survived by three sons: Robert (Diana) Oswalt of Colo, Iowa, William (Dawn) Oswalt of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Bradley (Roanna) Oswalt of Colo, Iowa; two daughters: Barbara (Bill) Matthias of Denver, Iowa, Becky (Lindsey) Beving of Wellsburg, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russ; 2 grandsons: Cory Oswalt, Christian Oswalt; three brothers: Joe Anderson, Jim Anderson, Max Anderson; and a sister: Marjorie Sargent.

Visitation will be 10:00 -11:00 AM Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Collins Christian Church. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM following the visitation. Interment will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery. The family invites you to join them for lunch in the church basement following the service.
