William "Bill" Holmes, 64, of Boone, lost his battle with cancer on September 15, 2019, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Bill served as a paratrooper, rifleman and a cook in the United States Army and loved to fish and play pool. Bill is survived by his wife, Deb; his daughter Gayle (Max) Grove; his son, Austin (Nikki) Stone; along with numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandkids and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and June; his brother, Wendell; his sisters: Lila and Rosie and a grandson, Ronnie.
