Wilma Jean Longnecker, 92 of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Wilma was born June 29, 1931, in Rural Cambridge, the daughter of Ora J. and Ava Irene (Cook) Groseclose. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1948 and from Iowa State University with a degree in Sociology in 1952. Wilma taught school in Hawaii, California and Nevada, Iowa. On January 24, 1987, she was united in marriage to Guy Longnecker at Plymouth Church in Des Moines. Wilma was very proud to live at the Longnecker Heritage Family Farm.

Wilma was a member of the Cambridge Legion Axillary and the Dorcas Society. She had a special love for gardening and flowers.

Wilma is survived by her son, William James Gooden and family of Beavercreek, OH and Jeff (Twila) Longnecker and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Susan Gooden; and her son, Robert Edward Gooden.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (422 First Street) in Maxwell. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Center Grove Cemetery near Cambridge.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wilma to the Center Grove Cemetery or the Dorcas Society.
