Wilma Edith (Lemonds) Posegate. age 99, of rural Nevada, Iowa, passed away August 28, 2025, at Story County Hospital, Nevada, Iowa.
Wilma was born November 8, 1925, in Stamford, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to William S. & Lora (Rush) Lemonds. Her siblings were her sister Fae (Goosic) and brothers Dale and Leo. They all preceded her in death.
Wilma graduated from Shipley High School, in Story County, Iowa, in 1943 and married Robert (Bob) Laverne Posegate on December 24, 1944, at the Lutheran Church in Nevada, Iowa. Bob preceded her in death on February 4, 2015.
She is survived by their three children, Sherry Ann Posegate (Thomas) Babicky of Racine, Wisconsin, Diane Sue Posegate (John) Valline of Nevada, and Chuck Lee (Jody Samson) Posegate of Nevada, as well as 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Wilma held various jobs throughout her life and became an astute businesswoman. She owned and operated both Posegate's Dari Creme and, later, Posegate's Floweret. She was a charter member of the Nevada chapter of ABWA (American Business Women's Association), the first female president of the Nevada Chamber of Commerce, a member of the the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her volunteering included time spent at the state fair. She loved watching almost all kinds of sports, Christmas, crafts, bowling, playing games, sewing and, above all, family. She and Bob loved spending winters since 1991 at Alamo Paradise Acres in Alamo, Texas, because of all the wonderful friends they made there.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Nevada. Burial will be privately done at another date.
